Variety’s Power of Comedy

This year Variety honored Family guy creator Seth MacFarlane at it’s annual ‘Power of Comedy’ fundraiser and we were there! It was a night full of Laughing and crying all benefiting the Noreen Fraser Foundation for cancer research.

Joel McHale hosted the event featuring stand-up from greats such as Bill Maher, Patton Oswalt, Owen Benjamin, Eric Andre, Anthony Jeselnik, Amy Schumer, Chris D’Elia, and Nick Kroll. Bill Maher kicked of the night with his usual political humor and shared advice for the newly re-elected president, “He’s half black and half white. The first term was the white term, let the second term be the black term.” Comedy Central Roast regulars Amy Schumer and Anthony Jeselnik livened up the party with their expectedly blue humor followed by a surprise tune from duo Garfunkel & Oats. The night continued with Alex Borstein (Lois Griffin) & Rachel MacFarlane (sister) lighting up the stage with a hilarious musical number jabbing at Seth’s wealth and success.

Finally the guest of honor took the stage, introduced by the legendary Adam West and appropriately clutching a glass half full of whiskey. He joked with by a series puns and jabs only Seth can deliver and closed his speech by saying “During the last 10 minutes I might have Brett Ratner-ed myself out of the Oscars.”

The night was brought back to reality as Noreen Fraser herself reminded us why we were all there, encouraging donations to the foundation. http://bit.ly/NoreenFraser
